As part of their ongoing commitment to assisting students, the Dailonna Dozier Help Foundation has intervened to settle outstanding lunch fees for students at Luella Elementary School in Locust Grove, Georgia. This kind gesture goes beyond a mere financial contribution—it serves as a symbol of hope for children who depend on school meals as an essential source of nourishment.
Students with overdue lunch fees are not able to enjoy a hot, freshly prepared lunch. Instead, they receive an alternative meal consisting of a sandwich, accompanied by fruit and milk. While this meal provides some sustenance, it pales in comparison to the nourishing, warm meals that many of these children need. When principal Dr. Twyla Barkley and her staff learned that Dailonna Dozier Help Foundation was paying off overdue lunch fees for their students, they were elated! Perhaps no one was more elated than Tiffany Granger, cafeteria manager, at the school. With tears in her eyes Ms. Granger explained that for some students, school might be the only place where they receive a hot meal during the day—especially those who are homeless or in the foster care system.

There are many benefits to students having balanced and nutritious meals. Improved nutrition can lead to better concentration, increased energy, positive attitude and resilience needed to thrive in school.
