In recognition of Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, the Dailonna Dozier Help Foundation hosted a webinar celebrating the abilities of individuals with developmental disabilities. The event aimed to shine a light on their strengths and promote the importance of inclusion. Our distinguished guest speakers included representatives from the Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities and the Good Life Ambassador program.

Spreading Awareness

The Good Life Ambassadors are led by Mr. Jimmy Lowe, who is passionate about spreading awareness and knowledge of our disability community. This is visible through the interactions he has with the ambassadors. They consist of a panel of seven amazing human beings who defy the odds and overcome adversities daily. The ambassadors shared their stories allowing us to take a deep dive into their personal lives. We were able to see the intricate details of what they experience on a daily basis. Their reflection beautifully highlights the importance of understanding how culture, language, and psychological factors shape our perception of ourselves and the world.

The work of the Good Life Ambassadors and Mr. Jimmy Lowe is truly impactful. By shedding light on the stories of individuals who overcome daily challenges, it brings attention to the strength and resilience within the disability community. The ambassador panel provides a powerful perspective, helping others understand the lived experiences of those with disabilities, and making the world a more “diversability” friendly place.

The opportunity to engage with these amazing individuals not only broadens understanding but also promotes empathy and respect. It’s vital to continue such initiatives to challenge stereotypes, raise awareness, and support inclusion. DDHF will continue our partnership with Mr. Jimmy Lowe and the Good Life Ambassadors as we partner in the future to further strengthen the mission of inclusion for those with developmental disabilities.
